Sluice complex renovation

If you want to sail with your ship Schiedam from the Nieuwe Maas, you are guaranteed to pass the Buitensluis and the Koninginnebrug. This bridge-lock complex connects the Nieuwe Maas with the Schiedamse Schie via the picturesque center.

The current lock was renewed in 1975, making part of the installation already 45 years. Time to renew the electrical installation and bring the complex back into conformity with current safety requirements. For the municipality of Schiedam, we are allowed to implement the design of the new installation with our engineers. This means, among other things, a new control desk with screen controls, cameras to improve visibility and new PLCs. The renewed design of the lock and bridge must be completed in 2020.
